"I’ve NEVER voted against (or failed to cast a vote for) a Republican whom I’ve known to be a good and honorable person, and I have a difficult time understanding or respecting my fellow Republicans who don’t support our general election nominees,

I think you've just answered your own question. I have never voted for George Bush, as it was clear to me that he was not a good and honorable person. (History, unfortunately, has proven me more right than I had ever feared.) The same can be said of Bob Beauprez, due to his support of Tom DeLay and his taking of that bribe from the Russian Mob (a free $20K+ junket to Israel). I detest hypocrisy, and respect those rare politicians who actually keep their word (e.g., Bob Schaffer).

That's why Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater were such a breath of fresh air. You knew where they stood, and you could count on them to stand there when it mattered. It's about character....

On that score, Ford was a colossal disappointment. Pardoning Nixon was tantamount to saying that some men are above the law. Not impeaching George Bush declares that some leaders (Bush) can commit war crimes, but others (Saddam) can't. Unless you are loyal to the Constitution and the rule of law even when it is inconvenient, you are not loyal to it.

If you can't adhere to that standard, you deserve to be ruled by Mary Mullarkey.
