Constitution Avenue, Independence Avenue, the Washington Monument, Capitol Hill — those great names from our nation’s capital still stir me even after a lifetime of visiting or working near them. But after being out there this week, I came back to Colorado troubled.

Many who hold power in our government are in a fog. They either don’t know or don’t care about the principles of our Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They’re politically lost, and that includes some Republicans as well as most Democrats. It is a more critical issue for America’s future than even the war in Iraq or the 2008 election.

Backbone Radio is all about renewing our self-government by giving the lost a compass to steer by and courage for the journey. This is a cooperative effort. We on the air bring the issues, ideas, and guests each Sunday. You as a listener weigh in to keep us sharp — and act on your convictions day by day.

** Republican legislative leaders, Sen. Andy McElhany and Rep. Mike May, join me this week for a review of how bad it got with Dems running things in the recently ended session — and what we can do now.

** We’ll review recent Supreme Court action (abortion, guns, campaign finance) with Claremont legal scholar John Eastman, and get another report on the presidential races from columnist Mike Littwin.
