Thanks Brian and Frank for your thoughts. The World's Smallest Political Quiz puts me squarely in the libertarian camp.

Krista - I think you're pretty accurate with your assessment; the problem with the GOP isn't the so-called 'religious right,' it's with so-called 'conservatives' like Bill Owens and George Bush who've all but abandoned fiscal responsibility and respect for our Constitutional rights.

I also believe too many Republicans have hitched their ideology and political fortune to George W. Bush's domestic and foreign policies, which have been destructive to our economy and currency. We cannot afford to borrow, print and spend more money for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan because we're bankrupt as a nation... over $9 trillion in National Debt, and over $50 trillion in future entitlement payments to Baby Boomers.

I know that's not a real popular sentiment, but it's the economic and financial reality we face. We must get our fiscal house in order, or risk more severe and protracted consequences and pain for current and future generations.

In retrospect, the most disappointing part of Wednesday evening event, was we, NONE of US, saluted Douglas Bruce. How can we claim to be small government advocates here in Colorado and not pay our respects. Social graces may not be Doug's forte, but thank God for TABOR and Mr. TABOR.

May I suggest everyone take the World's Smallest Political Quiz, and see where each of us scores on both left/right and top/bottom diamond field, and then let's continue the conversation. If there is another quiz or test I'd like to hear about it.

I describe Libertarians as: fiscally responsible and socially tolerant. One speaker described the Reagen coalition as the "Leave us alone agenda." The current Republican agenda appears to me to be neither fiscally responsible nor socially tolerant. At least Obama will deliver on the second half.
The most damning statistic is our incarceration rate. Pick an estimate, what percentage are nonviolent illegal drug users? If we were truly fiscally responsible, then we would tax MJ like alcohol and cigarettes and not jail that percentage.
