THANKS FOR LISTENING, 2004-2010
Backbone Radio with John Andrews originated on 710 KNUS in November 2004. Signing on every Sunday at 5:00 pm, John would proclaim: “We broadcast for liberty from the rooftop of North America, high atop the continental divide. We’re the most principled, most patriotic, most faith-based, most Colorado-proud spot on your weekend radio dial. We bring you America without apologies, America with steel in her spine.”
Early in 2010, pressed by his duties as director of the Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University, John turned to Ross Kaminsky, the prolific Colorado blogger and Human Events contributor, to take on more than half of the hosting. On September 26, 2010, Kaminsky became Backbone Radio’s full-time host and Andrews reverted to scribbler journalism along with grandfather duties.
John warmly thanks the management and staff of KNUS Radio, led by Brian Taylor and Kelly Michaels, along with the all-star sidekick team of Matt Dunn, Krista Kafer, Joshua Sharf, Karen Kataline, Kathleen LeCrone, Matt Arnold, Matt Schmitz, and (once in a great while) Tina Andrews.
Archives of Backbone Radio prior to 9/26/10, along with John Andrews’ monthly issue specials, initially called Under the Dome and later known as Freedom University, are stored here.
Current programs are stored at Ross Kaminsky’s website, Rossputin.com.

This could be a big comeback year for conservatives. I say “could.” Clearly Republicans will benefit politically from Democrats in disarray, here in Colorado where Gov. Ritter is the first casualty, as well as in Washington where Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have wildly overreached. But GOP electoral gains don’t necessary mean the return of right-minded principle in Americans’ approach to self-government. That will take a lot more soul-searching (more…)

Don’t miss our governor’s race preview show this evening. Republicans are on offense and Dems on defense as the 2010 election year is soon to dawn. With Gov. Bill Ritter weaker than any incumbent in half a century, his party was counting on opposition infighting to keep their chances alive. The GOP unity movement of recent weeks has changed all that. I’ll talk with Republican challenger Scott McInnis about his game plan for the months ahead, with Josh Penry about why he closed ranks behind Mighty Mac, and with underdog Dan Maes (more…)
