(By David Prentice) At this time of global pandemic, there is a reality we as Americans in this nation under God have to face. The reality concerning the giants of fear, hopelessness and of hysteria.
These have become the message of our media. A media that cannot help itself, cannot help but sow fear and hysteria, cannot help but distort reality for millions of Americans.
Flat out, there is something wrong with these people who are doing this. There is something wrong with their constant politicization of a potential medical crisis.
There is something horribly wrong with them saying that Donald Trump should not try to give hope to the American people. There is something terrible about their lying and mischaracterization.
The best image that can be given describing the media success in spreading fear and hysteria is: The run on toilet paper. Just look at the empty shelves. It’s a perfect, real life description for what our media has done, and become. Emptiness. The empty shelves of our media betters are telling us something.
Let me say this. Neither listen to our media, nor spread their lies. And when you come up against people who do, who continue to spread their lies, correct them. Try it nicely, but don’t hesitate to call them out if they won’t stop.
Stand Up for Sanity
For such a time as this (in the words of Esther 4:14), as many people as possible need to stand up for sanity, stand up for being rational, calm, and stay collected. Because this crisis will pass. This crisis will end. And in the end, this crisis will be beaten.
Yes, this virus is real, and the damage it can do is real. There will be suffering, some of us may die. It’s an awful disease. But as Heather Mac Donald has sensibly asked: In Comparison to What? Her main point being, we have had these kinds of things plague us before, and we got beyond them. We have faced the specter of terrible times before, and we have come back strong. Every time.
And today it will happen again. We will beat it again. By doing the common-sense things we have been told to do. For a time, we distance (but please stay close in communication with your loved once and friends). For a time we be cautious, and take care as the health professionals are recommending. Yes, wash your hands. And be smart. And be vigilant.
But also, choose to wash your hands of our media. Refuse to let them infect yourself, and others you know anymore. The media are not smarter, not nicer, not big hearted, and do not have the best interests of their readers and viewers in mind. Quite the contrary, they have been purposely sowing hysteria and fear. Don’t let them infect you with their bad intentions. Ignore them, and get to the work of digging your families, your neighborhoods, and our country out of this.
Spread the Good Contagion
Get to the work of spreading another kind of virus: This virus is calm. This virus is cool. This virus is clear-sighted. This virus likes facts. This virus is one of hope. This virus is one of love for our families and for each other. This virus is one which slays giants. This virus is one that celebrates life. This virus is the one which can replace the virus of fear, hopelessness, and hysteria. Love casts out all fear.
This is our job now, and for the foreseeable future: Replace the virus that sows destruction and evil with the contagion of hope, faith, and love. Real hope. Wherever you are, plant the contagion. Do so with purpose.
If you are in a place of great contagion, as some are, do so take the cautions of health officials seriously. I do not have to repeat what those are, we should know what they are, and if not, can find them readily.
Once again, this will pass. Life will return to normal sometime in the not so distant future. If you are sick, and in jeopardy, perhaps use the newly promising drug remedy. Many hospitals already are, and it’s been called a potential game-changer. For most of us who are infected by it, it will pass mildly. Let it do so and self-educate in the ways not to pass this on.
If you are in a median place of contagion, or one that is not so bad, do what is right, do what you need to do to prevent this Wuhan Virus from getting stronger. But even of greater importance: Slay the fear, slay the hopelessness, slay the hysteria. Because you were born for this.
Remember those who are working diligently to fight this. Pray for them. Pray for them and praise them even if you don’t normally do so. These are your neighbors, delivering goods, selling food, and medicines, and necessities. These are your neighbors, trying to regain a semblance of normalcy.
Donate money to places you trust to help. Encourage them if you can’t. Help where you can. But in all ways, be a virus replacer.
Right Man at the Right Time
Last, but not least, pray for President Trump. One thing I am convinced of: He was born for such a time as this.
So many times, he has shown the American people that he is steadfast in his commitment to leading us out of crisis. He is not a perfect vessel, and there are those that hate him. But I can’t think of another human being I would want to be President at this time. He has led with calm, with rationality, and with purpose.
Trump shut down travel from China and other infected areas early. That took wisdom and foresight. And political courage. Canada’s Justin Trudeau did it 47 days later.
Trump has badgered, cajoled, and looked for those professionals who work with drugs, and future vaccinations. He has taken on, as usual, the awfulness of our media. He is looking at different and unique ways to conquer this menace. He is daily fighting the giants on our behalf.
Trump has sought for game changers, such as the aforementioned new drug therapies. He has worked well even with the Democratic governors of the worst areas of contagion. They have praised him for his great leadership. Something I never expected to see.
And when it is time to move on to rebuilding the economy, he will do so. It may be (probably is) something he has started already, a plan he has. It may be tomorrow, it may be next week, but it will happen.
His ideas brought us to the best economy we have seen in our lifetimes, for years before the contagion began. With the help of our fellow Americans, it will happen again. With the good contagion, the replacement virus, we will come back stronger, better, and with greater purpose than ever.
A Day We Were Made For
Thank God for the American spirit of ingenuity, diligence, perseverance, passion, and compassion. Thank God for Donald Trump. Thank God for the opportunity to replace the negative virus with a positive one.
For these reasons, this is going to be our finest hour. This is going to be a time where the light of reason will prevail.
For such a time as this. Not only for Donald Trump. A response from average Americans will be necessary. It’s a day we all were made for. We need to seize it.
