Here are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 128:1-6. Have I the spiritual maturity to thank God for whatever I may experience of the blessings promised here, yet at the same time to trust him like Job when nothing is going right?
Job 42:1-16. How can I be more faithful and active in praying for others, not just me and mine (verse 10)?
Ezra 2:1-70. When I'm in church with perhaps hundreds of fellow believers, do I spiritually value each one by name as this chapter (and other name lists throughout Scripture) teach me to do?
Luke 11:24-28. Is my mental and spiritual household as well secured against intruders as my physical dwelling?
By the way, if you decide to join me in studying regularly from the St. James guide, be aware the editor, Patrick Reardon, has helpful comments online for one or more of each day's selections.
