Tuesday 8/30: Fishers of Men

Psalm 26:1-12. How can I listen more meekly for God to examine me and prove me (verse 2, KJV)? By what overlooked channels may his findings be presented to me?

Job 6:1-30. Who do I know that may need a spiritually compassionate ear from me today, and not just glib words as Job's misguided friends gave him?

I Timothy 4:1-16. What specific daily practices can I adopt for "exercise unto godliness" (verses 7-8), even more disciplined than my bodily exercises for fitness?

Luke 5:1-11. What would this Tuesday look like in my life, hour by hour, if I really followed Jesus as a fisher of men? Am I as contritely submitted to him as Peter was, truly ready to obey?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the  St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Where is your self-examination leading today?
