Bible Tuesday 1/24: Under a Microscope

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 45:1-17. If this is about King Jesus up through verse 8, and about his bride the Church thereafter, what's one truth about each of them seen here that I want to hold onto this week?

Genesis 24:1-67. Taking this chapter as an ideal of God's inclusion in the making of a marriage, when and how did the Judeo-Christian tradition stray so far into his exclusion from that?

Hebrews 10:32-39. What is the most difficult test of patience that God has set before me right now (verse 36)? What remembrance of his faithfulness in the past can I be leaning on (verse 32)?

Matthew 7:21-29. If my Christian life were seen under a microscope, are there ways in which I concentrate more on flattering the Son than obeying the Father (verse 21)?
