Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 75:1-10. Who will hold power? Who will have prominence? Can I trust with verses 6-7 that God determines all this for his good purposes? Shall I pray this over today's news?
II Chronicles 22:1-12. Same issue, but here in defiance of God. Murder, treason, infanticide. Is all this remote from me, or have I ever acted as if the end justifies the means? Why doesn't might make right?
I Thessalonians 4:1-8. Verse 8 KJV, to despise man is to despise God. Is this why the Bible is so strong against sexual license?
Luke 16:1-13. Verse 13, in what area of my life is it most tempting to try and serve two masters? In what way do I put mammon (money) ahead of God? Action point?
