Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 33:1-22. If God really deserves our awe (verse 8), nothing else does. What if I could catch myself every time I am about to say "awesome" today, silently adore him, and use a lesser word?
Genesis 49:1-33. If a couple of dozen honest words about my character were recorded for all time under God's eye, as Jacob does here for his sons, what might that summation be?
Romans 8:1-11. In what specific ways do I know myself to be carnally minded (verses 5-7, KJV)? What specific correction can I begin making today; something concrete?
Matthew 12:38-45. Am I stalling on Jesus or ducking what he clearly asks of me, by waiting for some further sign as these religious leaders did? Action point for today?
