Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 15:1-5. When have I made a costly voluntary self-sacrifice (verse 4)? How did it turn out? What did I learn?
Proverbs 8:1-36. What political leaders need most is wisdom from God (verses 15-16). Can I pray daily this week for some of them, by name, to receive that and use it?
Romans 11:1-10. When fearing for my country, my church, or any situation, can I trust in God's provision of a remnant (verses 3-5) and engage myself as part of it?
Matthew 13:53-58. Is it possible for Jesus to become so familiar to me, as he was to neighbors in Nazareth, that I undervalue him or take him for granted? How can I counteract that today?
