Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 74:1-23. What signs tempt me to believe God is almost without a prophet in today's world (verse 9)? What evidence, or whose witness, encourages me to the contrary?
Proverbs 25:1-28. What are some examples of dross that God has refined out of me in life so far (verse 4)? Some examples of what I still need him to purge?
Titus 3:1-15. In verses 3-7, do we see Paul being falsely modest, or honest and humble? Am I perceived by others as anywhere near this transparent?
Matthew 17:14-21. Never having moved a mountain, I evidently lack even a mustard-seed faith (verse 20). What practice can I start today, and continue daily, to increase my faith?
