Bible Tuesday 5/2: Hitherto

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 36:1-12. In verses 7-8 (KJV), what do I most need from God today: the shadow of his wings, the fatness of his house, or the river of his pleasures? What specific form do I pray it will take?

Exodus 9:1-35. Am I clear that all political leaders, good or bad, arise only for God's purposes whether they know it or not (verse 16)? Action point for prayer today?

I Corinthians 1:18-31. How can Christ crucified become more central in my way of life (verse 23)? How can the preaching of the cross become more central in my church (verse 18)?

John 5:16-24. Shown by the concordance how "hitherto" (verse 17, KJV) signals throughout the Bible the unceasing activity and benevolence of God, shall I make it my keynote for this day?
