Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 72:1-20. This is how earthly rulers would govern, and be regarded, if they faithfully mirrored God, the one true King. What three attributes shown here shall I pray today for America's leaders?
Leviticus 9:1-24. If in our times God no longer shows himself with physical fire (verse 24, and later in Acts 2 at Pentecost), what would today's spiritual equivalent be? Where do I need that?
I Corinthians 15:12-19. What does Jesus' resurrection mean to me in the immediate context of this day, this hour? What evidence of participating in the resurrection can I show others today?
John 18:28-40. Verses 37-38, how does Pilate's dismissal of truth dominate America today? If I were asked (perhaps in a Senate hearing by Sanders) what Jesus meant by truth, how would I answer?
