Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 53:1-6. What makes the fool deny God (verse 1)? Who do I know that does this? Superiority on my part being ruled out (verse 3, compare Romans 3:12), how shall I treat that fool?
Leviticus 2:1-16. In today's theology and culture, what does it mean that God wants me to offer him my firstfruits (verse 12)?
Acts 3:11-26. Again as in chapter 2, here is one of the church's foundational sermons. Didn't Peter come on too strong? Was he speaking the truth in love? Lessons for us today?
John 15:9-17. Friendship with Jesus isn't just a sentimental song, rather it involves total self-sacrifice and total obedience (verses 13, 14). How do I measure up? One goal for today?
