Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 137:1-9. How much does my joy in the Lord depend on external circumstances (verse 4)? What burden or unmet need shall I ignore today and praise him regardless?
Numbers 6:1-27. Verses 24-26, KJV, what's the deeper import of this ancient blessing upon the one for whom it's said, me or another? What if God really shined his face on me today?
Acts 10:34-48. How can I experience more of this Holy Spirit who, for Peter, was essential to Christ Jesus' identity (verse 38) and to each Christian's new birth (verse 47)?
Mark 4:26-29. As I live my life, waking and sleeping, what's growing within me toward the harvest -- the Kingdom of God or some lesser crop? How do I know? Am I paying attention?
