Bible Thursday 8/10: House of Prayer

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 86:1-17. Verse 11 KJV, in what way do I need God to unite my heart toward him? What symptoms of a divided heart can I detect in myself?

Joshua 3:1-17. Verse 4, following half a mile behind the ark. Verse 13, the river divides at the priests' touch, whereas the sea divided at Moses' word. What spiritual lessons can I draw?

II Peter 3:8-13. How does verse 9 temper my self-satisfaction in being destined for heaven, or my certitude of some other person being destined for hell?

Mark 11:12-19. Verse 17, if my church was famed for miles around as a house of prayer, what good might we do for individuals and the community? How are we doing? Action point?
