Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 119:49-72. Verse 49 KJV, I needn't reach with hope toward God, for he reaches toward me and causes hope. By what causes does he do this? What might cause me not to hope?
I Samuel 18:1-30. When have I felt trapped in a volatile relationship as David was with Saul? How did God show up? What did I learn? Present application?
Acts 5:34-42. Verse 41, have I ever been counted worthy to suffer shame for Jesus' name? When might be the next time? How should I prepare? Does he want me to actively court this?
John 19:5-16. Verse 15, though talking of Jesus as King, do I and other Christians sometimes act as though worldly wealth and might are the highest authority? Prayer point?
