Bible Saturday 8/4: The Cross

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 23:1-6. One of those beloved Scriptures that are almost too familiar. What are three big ways I have seen these promises from the Good Shepherd proved in my life?

I Kings 22:1-53. Ahab enraged at Micaiah's honest prophecy. When have I ignored the voices telling me hard truths, tough love from God, and paid the price?

Acts 28:17-31. Would Jerusalem, not Rome, be the center of global Christianity today had the Jews not rejected first Jesus, then Paul? Why did God order it that way? Does it matter?

Mark 8:31 - 9:1. Verse 34, what are some ways I am well along in denying myself for Jesus, and some ways I'm not?  What specifically is the cross he wants me to take up?
