Bible Thursday 8/23: The King Prays

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 133:1-3. Taking unity as the absence of division and the bonding of a shared purpose, how is my church doing? How can I more fully do my part?

II Kings 19:1-37. Jerusalem delivered after the king consults the prophet and prays. What relevance does this have in our country today, where religion and politics aren't supposed to mingle?

II John 1:1-13. Verse 9, what's the distinct identity of the Father and the Son, as best I know them? What office does each fulfill in my Christian life? Action point?

Mark 11:20-26. Have I been missing out on the connection between forgiving others and receiving what I pray for?
