Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 22:1-31. Though this opens with Jesus’ agony on the cross, it closes with God’s victory and his loved ones’ deliverance. What’s the encouragement here for my current situation?

Genesis 18:1-33. Verse 14, is anything too hard for the Lord? Honestly reviewing recent challenges, where have I come down on the wrong side of this? Action point?

I John 4:12-21. Verse 18, will I take a deep or shallow application of this today? Verse 20, will I take a selective or inclusive application of this today? The Cross, implied in verse 19, determines both,

Matthew 5:33-48. Verse 44, what’s the name of a specific person or group on whom I can practice this, over and over, allay today?
