Bible Saturday 11/2: Candle Wasted?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 22, what is the heaviest burden I’m carrying right now? What would it look like to cast it on the Lord starting today? What responsibility or effort would still be expected of me?

II Chronicles 9:1-31. King Solomon’s unsurpassed wealth and wisdom. How compatible are the two, according to Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, said to represent Solomon at his best? Application for me today?

james 4:7-17. Verses 13-15, with my current plans and assumptions, where am I falling into this trap? How does this humbly submissive attitude fit with expectancy of good, usually assumed to be a Christian virtue?

Luke 11:29-36. Jesus declares himself a far greater king than Solomon, but unrecognized, a candle going to waste. What’s the action point for me and my church?
