Bible Tuesday 7/23: Fool's Gold

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 45:1-17. Verse 7, why does the world mock this idea of loving righteousness and hating wickedness? In my attitudes or the media I consume, am I somewhat taken in by that? What is God’s remedy?

Numbers 16:1-50. In these times, what are the sins that most often divide believers against one another and estrange them from God? How does my church defend against these?

Acts 13:4-12. A sorcerer clashes with Paul. What is today’s modern form of this, the devil perverting God’s ways (verse 10 KJV)? Another angle on the two previous readings. Am I vulnerable?

Mark:8:31-9:1. Verse 34, what specific cross is Jesus asking me to take up today? Verse 36, what fool’s gold am I tempted to accept in exchange for my soul?
