Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 19:1-14. Verse 14, what are some small victories I can aim for, so that what I say and think is more pleasing to God today than it was yesterday?
Deuteronomy 8:1-20. Verse 3, cited by Jesus to refute Satan’s temptation. What specific word of God shall I digest to sustain my life today?
Titus 2:1-15. Verses 2-8, portrait of devout Christians, older and younger. What’s the underlying theology here? What’s my church doing about it? My role?
John 1:35-42. Verse 42, if Jesus gave me a nickname based on my potential usefulness to him, what might it be? What shall I do this year to realize that potentiality?
