Bible Monday 5/18: Be Not Cast Down

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 42:1-11. Verses 5 and 11, as the pandemic drags on, what are the fearful side of me and the faithful side of me saying to each other? What hope shall I insist upon today, to tip the argument God’s way?

Ezekiel 38:1-23. Related, why would an all-powerful and all-loving God permit violent upheavals on earth, such as we are now experiencing? What’s my refuge at a time like this?

Ephesians 1:1-14. Verses 9-11, related again, God’s great good purpose and our place in it. What might be the destined part he intends me to play as a Christian in this plague year?

John 9:24-41. Verse 39, from what blindness has Jesus already delivered me? What does he want me to do with my newly endowed sight? What further clarity of sight shall I ask him for today?
