Bible Monday 7/20: Cleanup

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 51:1-19. Verses 5-7, what inner work of correction and cleansing has God been doing in me of late? How can the turmoil of 2020 be an occasion for that work to go even deeper?

II Samuel 18:1-33. Absalom is killed against David’s orders. What is a very difficult instance of loving my enemies that I can pray God to help me with today?

Acts 15:23-29. Verse 26, risking their lives for Jesus’ name. What’s the biggest risk I’ve ever taken for Christ? What’s an even bigger one I can imagine having to take as the anti-Christian wave worsens?

Mark 9:42-50. Verse 50, among people I know, whose “saltiness” as a man or woman of God do I particularly admire? What’s a practical goal I can set myself, to become more like that person?
