Bible Thursday 8/20: Climbing to Golgotha

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 119:89-128. Verse 92 KJV, what is delightful about God’s law? How does it address my current troubles?

II Kings 3:1-27. Elisha proclaims God’s favor on Jehoshaphat, not on Jehoram. Through what individual or institution, if any, are God’s political decrees made known in our times? My church’s role?

Acts 28:1-16. Paul works miracles on the island. What may have been the themes of Paul’s prayer life at this time? Present application for me?

Mark 15:21-32. Related question, what attitudes and actions on the part of Simon of Cyrene may have contributed to his being selected as Jesus’ helper in the stations of the cross?
