Bible Friday 8/28: Hard Lessons

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 140:1-13. Verses 1, 4, 11 KJV, appealing to God when violence and wickedness are out of control. What would be some aspects of the help we pray he gives America right now?

II Kings 11:1-21. The queen mother murderously usurps the throne until a priest overthrows her. In today’s world, is there any need or any room for the blended role of a warrior priest?

Job 5:17-27. Verses 17-19, where do God’s hard chastening and its benefits enter into my present experience? Is this a school the believer should enroll in?

Luke 4:38-44. Jesus heals mightily with his voice and his hands. How can I or a loved one receive such healing now that he is no longer here in person? Today’s greatest need?
