Bible Tuesday 2/2: Price to Pay

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 81:1-16. Verses 8-10, what are some false gods subtly claiming a share of my allegiance? Action point for today?

Genesis 33:1-20. Jacob and Esau are reconciled. What clues in the text point to genuineness or lack of it? What bitterness between me and someone have I overcome, or do I need to overcome, God helping us?

Malachi 3:1-7. Verse 5, is God’s indictment of sin here conservative or liberal or something else entirely? Do I, or does my church, have blind spots in fighting all unrighteousness, all injustice?

Luke 2:22-40. Verse 35, Jesus’ mother at the point of a sword. What does the Virgin Mary mean to me? What has discipleship cost me so far? What greater cost must I soon be ready to bear?
