Bible Tuesday 10/26: Desperation

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 139:1-24. Verses 7-10, when have I felt distant from God, or wanted to hide from him? What did I learn? Present application?

II Chronicles 4:1-22. The temple, gold wherever you look. If each Christian is now to be regarded as God’s temple, what “gold standard” is expected of me today?

Philippians 3:1-11. Verses 4-9, how Paul revalued everything. Where are my ideas of wealth and worth not yet fully conformed to Jesus Christ? First step today?

Luke 18:9-14. Related, what safeguard can I include in my daily prayers so they are more like those of the contrite man and less like those of the prideful man?
