Bible Wednesday 4/7: The Winsome Christian

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 89:1-52. Verse 6 KJV, aren’t there some earthly things that I tend to treat as comparable to God? Saying, in effect, if I only had more of X, I wouldn’t be so dependent on him? Why is that a mistake?

Song of Solomon 4:1-16. If Jesus the Bridegroom has this kind of superlative adoration for the Church his Bride and for us as part of it, what great feats of kingdom work must we be capable of?

I Peter 2:11-17. Peter, ill-treated by government even as Jesus himself had been, still doesn’t tell Christians to be anti-government. What attitudes and actions does he recommend instead? How do I measure up?

Luke 24:1-12. If I ask God to give me more of the qualities of Mary Magdalene that we see in these resurrection stories, what would that look like? How would I be different?
