Bible Tuesday 5/11: All Things to All Men

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 27:1-14. Verse 4 KJV, by what attitudes and actions can I walk out this desire today: dwelling in God’s house, beholding his beauty, inquiring in his temple?

Exodus 30:1-38. Verse 8, perpetual incense burned for the Lord through all generations. What does God want perpetually from me? How am I doing?

I Corinthians 9:19-27. What can I learn about the Christian life from an athlete training for the Olympics? What is the prize or crown Paul speaks of? Why isn’t this selfish or legalistic?

John 17:1-12. We’re told elsewhere that the Son prays to the Father for each of us in similar terms as these. Why do I need this, if God hears my own prayers directly? On what matter do I most covet Jesus’ intercession today?
