Bible Wednesday 6/16: Bad Religion

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 111:1-10. Verse 10 KJV, what part does the fear of the Lord play in my Christian life?

Leviticus 23:1-44. Israel's yearly feast days. What benefit do some Christians get from following a sacred calendar? Is there a different or greater benefit for Christians who do not do so?

Acts 8:4-13. Phillip’s gospel vs. Simon’s sorcery. How do magic, superstition, and the occult—by other names—bewitch many away from God these days? What is my church doing about it? My role?

Mark 3:1-6. Verse 5, Jesus’ anger at bad religion. Related to the previous question, what forms does bad religion take in our time? How might it subtly allure me? Action point?
