Bible Monday 6/28: Lost, Hungry, Expectant

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 140:1-13. Verse 3, spiritually understood, what are some poisons the enemy directs at me, against which I must be watchful with God’s help?

Numbers 8:1-26. Seven lamps illuminating God’s tabernacle. By analogy, what’s the source of light for me to see and do my duty to God? What keeps it from going out?

Acts 12:1-19. Herod kills James and imprisons Peter. Why are today’s ruling elites so afraid of the faith of Jesus Christ? Verses 5-7, what would it look like for my church to be mobilized in prayer as they were, summoning angels?

Mark 6:30-44. Verse 34, in my community, who are the sheep without a shepherd? What spiritual malnutrition are they experiencing, and what can my church (Christ’s’ body locally) do about it?
