Bible Thursday 7/22: His Voice

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 57:1-11. Verse 4, menaced by swords, spears, arrows, prowling lions, fiery attack. What am I facing right now that expresses such hostile intensity? Where is God as all this presses in on me?

Numbers 32:1-42. Verses 6-10, stop discouraging the people of God. What’s the lesson here for me, my family, and my church?

Song of Solomon 2:15-3:11. The high king and she who adores him. We’re told this is an allegory of Jesus and his bride, the church. But what relevance has it to our secular, skeptical, technological age?

John 20:11-18. What new possibilities might I experience if the risen Christ spoke and called me by name? How had Mary Magdalene’s life prepared her for this? How can I start preparing myself today?
