Bible Saturday 7/31: Dare I Forget?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 78:1-40. Verses 7 and 11, when I become forgetful toward God, what is it that I lose sight of? What’s the consequence? What’s the remedy?

Hosea 5:1-15. Verse 5 KJV, pride of Israel. How has it come to pass that to have pride, to be proud, is a good thing in the modern vocabulary but not in the Bible’s vocabulary? What does God want me to have instead?

Acts 24:1-21. Verse 14, Paul pleads not guilty of heresy and avows fidelity to his fathers’ God. How important is it to me to avow the same?

Mark 13:1-13. Verse 13, why does the world hate us for proclaiming Jesus’ name? What form does that hatred take at present against me, my family, and my church? Is there worse to come?
