Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with three questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 112:1-10. Verses 1-3, what am I to make of this apparently simplistic promise, that our fear of God is rewarded with riches for us and greatness for our children? Is there a hidden meaning?
Joshua 7:1-27. Achan pays with his life for greedily disobeying God’s curse on the Jericho plunder. Is there anything I have been trying to hide from God and the church? Action point for today?
Acts 28:11-16. Paul, reaching Rome, is well treated by his fellow believers and his guards. Are my present difficulties making me deficient in gratitude to God?
Mark 16:9-20. Verses 17 and 18, signs following for us who believe in Jesus crucified, risen, ascended, and reigning. How have I experienced these? Which one shall I especially pray for today?
