Bible Wednesday 8/11: Forgiven

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 103:1-22. Verses 10-12, what wrongs have I done, for which God showed me grace and mercy? How can I thank him today?

Joshua 2:1-24. God uses a heathen prostitute to set up the conquest of Jericho. What difficulty am I facing right now, for which this can give me encouragement and assurance of his perfect plan?

Acts 27:1-12. Paul’s foresight of a disaster at sea. What uncertainty looms before me, about which I can ask God for the gift of spiritual discernment and guidance?

Mark 15:1-20. Verse 15, Barabbas yes, Jesus no. How do current events reflect this age-old preference of public opinion for brute force over sacrificial love? What is my church doing about it?
