Bible Wednesday 2/2: Sun and Shield

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 84:1-12. Verse 11 KJV, no good thing withheld. Is there something I have longed for, worked for, prayed for, and yet God has withheld it from me? What am I to make of that?

Deuteronomy 33:1-29. Moses’ final blessing on each of the twelve tribes. Verse 27, how is this day better for me, knowing that God’s arms are underneath me at all times?

Haggai 2:1-9. Verses 6 and 7, what signs are now evident that God is roughly shaking all things? Is it hard to see his hand in all the shaking that is going on? How shall I today obediently be strong and work (verse 4)?

Luke 2:22-40. Verses 34 and 35, Simeon foretells the turmoil that will surround Jesus. What part have I to play in all of this, here and now?
