Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 143:1-12. Verse 10, teach me to do thy will. What’s lacking, my knowledge of what God wants done, my ability to do it, or my motivation to do it? Action point for today?
Isaiah 1:1-31. Verses 11 and 17, are there some ways in which I and my church have substituted empty gestures toward God for active works of mercy and justice?
Galatians 6:11-18. Verse 14, what are some ways in which I can raise high the Cross of Jesus Christ as I go through this day?
Luke 14:25-33. Jesus warns me to count the cost of being his disciple. If it has cost me little or nothing so far, am I doing it wrong? Should I have an exit strategy in case the cost gets too high?
