Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 66:1-20. Verses 10-12, when has God submitted me to the fires of affliction for my own good? To what use shall I now put the “refined silver” of Christian character he thus formed in me?
Isaiah 31:1-9. Verse 4, what qualities of a lion on the hunt do I desire from God today? Verse 5, what qualities of a bird in flight? Have I the faith to ask those things of God—and to receive them?
Revelation 9:13-21. Verse 20, some won’t repent, even after seeing many others die. Is there any unrepentance in me anywhere today? Action point?
Luke 1:1-4. What do I most desire to learn from those who were eyewitnesses to Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection? What have I to gain today from really knowing Jesus, not just knowing about him?
