Bible Sunday 12/11: Magnificat

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 113:1-9. Verse 6, in what way would I desire to have God humble himself toward me today?

Isaiah 46:1-13. Verses 4 and 5, has it seemed God was nearer to me at some seasons of my life than at others? Have I grown closer to him in the past year?

Phillipians 4:4-9. Verse 6, what particular matter of anxious care is God inviting me to lay aside today, replacing it with prayer and thankfulness?

Luke 1:39-56. Verses 46-55, how does Mary’s song of rejoicing, the Magnificat, specifically apply to the woes of our world at this Advent season?
