Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 27:1-14. Verse 10, as good as my father and mother ever were (or not), God is better. What can you give me today, Lord, that they never could?
Jeremiah 24:1-10. Parable of the good and bad figs. What is God asking of me today, to place myself in the “basket” of those he will graciously rescue and regenerate?
Romans 16:17-27. Verse 20, God will enable me to trample Satan underfoot. What would such a victory specifically look like for me today, in my personal life and in the wider world?
Matthew 19:1-12. What is my church doing about the divorce epidemic of our time? If it’s caused by hard hearts (verse 8), how can we be Jesus’ instrument for making hearts more Christlike? My role?
