Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 126:1-6. When have I, with God’s help, been able to reap in joy after having sown in tears? Present application?
Ezekiel 9:1-11. A vision of the idolatrous Jews perishing, where only the repentant few are spared. With America’s Christians now facing dark times, are some at my church unready? What can I do about it?
I Peter 2:1-12. Related, another stern warning to the souls sunk in worldly self-indulgence. Not even the angels, if disobedient, were spared. Verse 5, alarmed as Noah was, what ark shall I set about building?
John 20:19-29. Jesus’ patience with Thomas’s doubts. What questions have recently been clouding my faith, that I can frankly bring before the Lord today, trusting him to listen lovingly and answer convincingly?
