Bible Sunday 5/1: Fever Broken

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 146:1-10. Verses 3-5, distrust all princes. Thinking of some political leader I admire, and some other one I despise, why does God want me to see both as powerless to really change the world?

Ezekiel 16:1-63. God grieves over Jerusalem, his unfaithful spouse. What saddens God about the conduct of his people in these times? Is my church part of the problem or part of the solution?

II John 1-13. Verses 7-10, doctrinal errors. How would i answer if a young student or a new believer objects to me, “I don’t want doctrine, I just want to love Jesus and walk with him”?

John 4:46-54. Jesus is stern yet kind with the desperate father. Is the Lord using a hard situation in my life right now to test me and teach me? Am I proving teachable or impatient?
