Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 78:1-40. Verse 8, were there some ways in which my parents or ancestors fell short of faithfully following God, whereby I might learn a lesson and do better in my turn?
Ezekiel 47:1-23. God’s river of restoration, healing, and fruitfulness. How can I gain access to these life-giving waters today?
Ephesians 4:17-24. What success have I had, through Jesus Christ, in putting off the old man and putting on the new? What is the next phase of that process for me to work on today?
John 16:1-15. Am I clear that the Holy Spirit is not just a thing but a person—”He” not “it”? What’s a recent experience in my life that showed we’re better off with Jesus having gone away and sent the Spirit?
