Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 76:1-12. Verse 10, God’s power to restrain destructive wrath. How shall I pray for God’s protection and rescue of millions in the hurricane’s violent path right now?
Job 30:1-31. Verses 19, 20, 26, when have I felt deserted by God, or worse, targeted by him for intentional suffering? What did I learn? Present application?
II Corinthians 11:16-33. Verses 23-27, Paul itemizes what discipleship has cost him. What has discipleship cost me? What may it cost me in the future? How shall I start preparing today?
Luke 9:51-56. James and John learn that discipleship isn’t furthered by fire. What’s the lesson for my kingdom work?
