Bible Saturday 1/21: House Calls Unnecessary

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 22, what burden can I cast upon God today and stop trying to bear all its weight by myself?

Genesis 21:1-34. Birth of Isaac. When has God done something very good—seemingly impossible—for me and my family?

Hebrews 10:26-39. Verses 32-34, what has it cost me to follow Jesus? Suppose the cost increases tenfold this year, will I be ready?

Matthew 8:1-13. Centurion recognizes that Jesus the Great Physician needn’t make house calls. Have I been placing too many preconditions and restrictions on what form the Lord’s help must take?
