Bible Saturday 2/4: D-Day

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 88:1-18. Have I ever been as depressed and despairing as the psalmist is here? How did God show up? Application for today?

Genesis 35:1-29. Verse 10, God renames Jacob as Israel. If God were to give me a new name or nickname reflecting the spiritual growth he intends to bring about in me, what might it be?

Hebrews 13:18-25. Verse 21, praying that God will empower me to do his will and please him. But in coming to the actual doing of it, how can I know what’s wanted of me, what to prioritize?

Matthew 10:32-42. What would it look like for me to live as someone who loves his family very much—but loves God even more and most of all?
