Bible Wednesday 1/4: Abel and Cain

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 11:1-7. Verse 3, what foundations of our way of life, threatened or deteriorating at present, can I with God’s help do more to preserve and rebuild this year?

Genesis 4:1-26. Verse 9, brother’s keeper. Is there something about which I have been lying to God, or making excuses to him? Action point for today?

I John 3:10-15. The love that brings life, versus the hate that brings death. Which of these will impel my thoughts and actions today? How will others notice?

John 1:35-42. Simon is renamed Peter. If Jesus gave me a nickname or title, based on the better self he wants to bring out in me, what might it be?
